FRISCO, Texas — New shiny attractions keep popping up across Texas, vying for kids and their parents’ attention.

From the babbling toddlers to the crawling babies and even those energetic school-aged kids, they’re all checking out the new playground on the block.

“It’s a blend of a children’s museum with a play center. Touch it, feel it, go around,” said Josh Rathweg, brand president at Cloudbound.

Cloudbound is an indoor play center in Frisco catering to kids aged 0 to 6. It opened its doors near the end of May, just months after its first location in New York was up and running in January.

“I asked my team, and I really challenged them: look where parents are kind of looking for beautifully designed environment, really focused on early childhood development. And I’m not exaggerating. Frisco, Texas, literally kept popping up over and over,” said Rathweg.

That was also the case for another child-centric theme park opening this summer.

Just 10 minutes down the road from Cloudbound, Universal Kids Resort officially welcomes visitors on Wednesday, July 1, made for kids aged 3 to 10.

“North Texas is one of the largest growing areas in the country, and the city of Frisco is a good part of that,” said Sharon Parker, director of marketing and sales at Universal Kids Resort. “Being part of this community, not just as a business, but being the fabric of giving back to the community. It shows us why we chose this location and why it’s going to be a great location for us years to come.”

In North Richland Hills, which is located northeast of Fort Worth, the Peppa Pig Theme Park is expanding just a year after opening. The park caters to kids aged 2 to 6.

Representatives from the park said they have seen a lot of success in its first year, with hundreds of thousands of visitors stopping by, leading to new features rolling out all summer.

Down south in San Antonio, The DoSeum continues to welcome young guests after more than a decade.

“Very excited for our summer 2026 because, for the first time in our 11-year history here as the museum, we have a dinosaur exhibition,” said Richard Kissel, chief program officer at The DoSeum. “We have ‘Dinosaurs in Motion,’ on view now. It opened a few weekends ago and will be on view through Sept. 7.”

The DoSeum caters to kids aged 0 to 10, welcoming 1,000-2,000 visitors on any given day during the week.

That was around the number of people who checked out Cloudbound during its first weekend in Frisco.

“Over 1,000 in presale memberships sold to families and over 1,600 that came through the doors that weekend. That was greater of a response than New Rochelle, New York,” said Rathweg.

It’s a milestone Rathweg is celebrating as they hope to keep kids in the clouds for years to come.

Last Friday was supposed to be the debut of the tallest, fastest, longest and first-ever giga dive coaster in the world. But Six Flags Over Texas in Arlington postponed the record-breaking Tormenta: Rampaging Run to a later date. It was supposed to break six world records.
