LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Quiet and seasonal is the name of the game as we move into the second half of the year and the 4th of July weekend! No scorching hot temperatures soaring past the century mark, we’re dealing with good ol’ 90s along with a pleasant breeze to help with the heat.
THURSDAY
Quiet and breezy. High temperatures hit the low 90s for the afternoon with winds generally around 15 to 25 mph out of the south.
It’ll be a seasonal and warm Thursday with a light breeze and some sunshine later today(Dylan Smith)
A mix of sunshine and clouds with just a small hint of a few isolated light showers throughout the day.
TONIGHT
Mild and quiet. Overnight lows will drop down into the low 70s once again. I don’t anticipate much in the way of precip overnight with a few light straggling showers and sprinkles for a small portion of the South Plains.
FRIDAY
Gorgeous and warm. High temperatures will top out again in the mid 90s with more sunshine and a pleasant breeze to help out with the heat in the afternoon.
It’ll be a warm but generally seasonal weekend of weather for Independence Day weekend(Dylan Smith)
Winds stay generally between 10 to 20 mph with some stronger gusts of around 25 mph.
UPCOMING WEATHER PATTERN
The holiday weekend ahead is looking warm but not outrageously hot with just a few shots of showers and storms throughout parts of the weekend. High temperatures will hover in the mid to upper 90s for Saturday and Sunday.
Mostly quiet this weekend with more chances of some isolated showers kicking in later this weekend/early next week(Dylan Smith)
Rain chances are looking to pick up Sunday evening/night through Monday but still pretty light/isolated for now.
Lubbock is still a couple inches of rainfall behind on the year so far even with the beneficial rain we’ve seen recently(Dylan Smith)
