Janet Metz Schulze, age 78, joined her heavenly father on June 24, 2026, in Austin, Texas.
She was born on June 17, 1948, in Cottage Hills, Illinois to Adam and Juanita (Hicks) Metz.
Janet attended elementary school in Brighton, Illinois and graduated high school from Southwestern High School in Piasa, Illinois. She attended college at Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville and went on to become a real estate broker.
Janet began her early career in banking which continued when she moved from Illinois to Texas in 1983. In the early 1990’s she transitioned into real estate and quickly became one of the top selling agents in the Baytown, Texas area. Throughout her career she was actively involved in her church, First Baptist Church of Highlands, and her community, faithfully serving in organizations such as the Highlands Horizons, The Greater Highlands Chamber of Commerce, and Kiwanis Club.
After moving to the family ranch in Brenham, Texas, in 2003, she became a real estate broker and opened Two S Realty, with her beloved husband, Sam Schulze. They owned and operated Two S Realty for almost 13 years before moving to Austin, Texas, to be closer to their children and grandchildren. During her time in Brenham, Janet was deeply involved in her community and attended Fellowship Baptist Church. After moving to Austin, she attended Gateway Church South Austin where she enjoyed volunteering as a greeter.
Janet was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Sam Schulze, both parents, and her brothers, Leslie Metz and Bill Metz. She is survived by her daughter, Lindsay (Jason) Wampler of Austin; her stepson Trent (Sherry) Schulze of Frisco; four grandchildren Bryan Barron, Robbie (Stephanie) Barron, Lila Wampler, and Charlotte Wampler; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service is planned for August 10, 2026, at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center in Austin, Texas, at 11:00 a.m., followed by a private ceremony with the immediate family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Wounded Warriors Project, The Alzheimer’s Foundation, or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
