SAN ANTONIO – If you’re traveling for the Fourth of July holiday weekend, expect company on Texas roads as millions of people head out of town.

AAA Texas said the busiest times to leave are today and tomorrow, especially in the afternoon and evening along major corridors such as Interstate 10 and Interstate 35. For the return trip, AAA said Sunday afternoon and evening are expected to be the most congested.

Officials said leaving earlier in the day can help drivers avoid the worst traffic.

“The afternoon and evening times are certainly, if you can avoid those especially on the major routes, that’s gonna be best, but overall any time through the travel period you can run into extra congestion or delays,” Daniel Armbruster of AAA Texas said.
