Once the post-Fourth of July weekend malaise sets in, Wichita will still have chicken to anticipate.
On Wednesday, July 8, Dallas-based Vibe Restaurants will open its 100th Wingstop, at 3000 N. Rock Road. The restaurant is taking over a space in the same strip center at 29th and Rock Road that has Starbucks and Cold Stone Creamery.
The day will start with a 9:15 a.m. ribbon cutting. The first 100 people in line at that time will get Wingstop swag. When the doors open at 10 a.m., the restaurant will pass out samples of the restaurant’s food and drink.
Wingstop serves traditional bone-in and boneless chicken along with chicken tenders. Customers can get a variety of sauces and seasonings.

The chain first arrived in Wichita in 2014 and has since opened four other restaurants: at 2548 S. Seneca, 2095 W. 21st St., 7325 W. Taft and 7809 E. Harry.
Vibe restaurants also has 72 Little Caesars restaurants in nine states and nine Whataburgers in Oklahoma. Its co-founder and CEO Ifraan Lalani, along with several other Vibe executives, will be at the ribbon cutting.
While the restaurant opening Wednesday will be Wichita’s fifth, another appears to be coming. In May, Wingstop pulled a building permit to add a Wingstop at the old Interstate Batteries space between Sport Clips and J. Rae’s at NewMarket Square.
