America’s 250th birthday is at hand, and with that, a hot, humid and potentially rainy holiday weekend kicks off Friday in North Texas.
Friday’s high is forecast by the National Weather Service’s Fort Worth office to be 98 degrees, with a low of 78.
The heat index, or “feels like” temperature, is expected to be 101.
Near-100 degree temperatures persist on July 4, with the weather service predicting a high of 99 degrees. Sunday’s high is forecast to be 98, with a heat index of 102.
To beat the heat over the holiday weekend, the CDC recommends drinking ample water, staying in the shade when possible, limiting consumption of caffeine and alcohol due to their dehydrating nature, wearing a hat and applying sunscreen.
Friday, Saturday and Sunday all share a slight chance of showers and isolated non-severe thunderstorms, according to the weather service. Precipitation chances are set to peak Sunday at 15%.
Humidity and partly cloudy skies are also anticipated to last through the weekend, according to the weather service.
