The University of Texas Medical Branch has launched an investigation into an employee’s viral video decried by Libs of TikTok and other right-wing social media accounts.

The video clip shows someone who appears to be a nurse backing out of a doorway, superimposed with the words “when I walk into my patient’s room and Fox news is blasting.” In the background, Whitney Houston sings “we both know I’m not what you need,” a line from her famous song “I Will Always Love You.”

While the account for “Nurse Ahlam” is now set to private, eight seconds of her video were reposted to Libs of TikTok’s account on X, where they received hundreds of thousands of views.

“Muslim nurse who appears to work at @utmbhealth in Houston, Texas, posted a video appearing to show that she wouldn’t treat a patient if they watch Fox News. Any comment on a nurse discriminating against patients for political views @utmbhealth?” the account authors posted.

Stills from the same video were later shared by content creators on additional social media platforms.

Officials at UTMB responded directly to @libsoftiktok on X Thursday evening.

“UTMB is aware of the social media posts and is conducting an investigation. This individual’s access to work at any UTMB facility has been suspended while the investigation is ongoing,” the health center said.

The owner of the original account, @nurse.ahlam.rn, did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

This is a developing story.
