Caterpillar Inc. has unveiled a multimillion-dollar initiative to grow the advancing manufacturing workforce in the state.
The Irving-headquartered manufacturer announced July 2 it will invest $5 million in talent development efforts across Texas. The investment unveiled at the construction equipment maker’s 1.7-million-square-foot engine facility in Seguin, outside San Antonio, will see the company partnering with organizations such as Texas State Technical College, the Manufacturing Institute and Seguin Economic Development Corp.
“Texas is a manufacturing powerhouse and a vital hub for innovation. Through this pledge, we’re capitalizing on those strengths and preparing Texans for the jobs of today and the advanced technology and manufacturing careers of tomorrow,” Christy Pambianchi, chief human resources officer at Caterpillar, said in a statement.
The allocation is part of the $100 million Building the Future Workforce Initiative that Caterpillar launched last October. The company selected Indiana as the first state recipient.
