The past few months have brought a handful of changes on San Antonio TV screens, including new lineups, departures and additions. One reporter who suddenly left a local station in June has now revealed where she left for.
Former KSAT 12 reporter Avery Everett officially traded the Lone Star State for the Sunshine State, announcing in a Facebook post on Wednesday, July 1, that she has landed at WESH 2 in Orlando.
“Hello, Central Florida! I moved to Orlando and I’m thrilled to be one of WESH 2 News new reporters. Incredibly excited to start this journey. Thank you all for the support throughout my move,” she wrote.
Everett announced her departure from San Antonio on May 27, and her last day was June 5. She said in her goodbye post that “this city welcomed me with open arms and gave me the opportunity to tell stories of resilience, celebration, heartbreak and hope. While I’m excited for what’s next, leaving this incredible community is not easy. A piece of my heart will always be here. I am so thankful for this place and for you.”
A Philadelphia native, she joined the San Antonio ABC affiliate in May 2023, having previously worked at an NBC station in Missouri. A spokesperson for the station previously told MySA via email that she was “an integral part of KSAT12’s community success through the years.”
“Her hardworking mentality, alongside her amazing journalistic integrity, has brought real lasting impact to San Antonio and South Texas,” the spokesperson said. “We thank her for all her contributions to KSAT12 and wish her the best in her future endeavors.”
Since moving to Florida, Everett has “been doing a lot of exploring,” she said on Instagram alongside photos from her new city (and of course, the beach).
