Cookouts and barbecues in Houston and across the country will be rocking with lavish food spreads, kids playing with sparklers and good music blasting on the speakers. And on Saturday morning, Beyoncé guaranteed her newest song would be the soundtrack of those cookouts.
The Houston native’s Parkwood Entertainment company announced a new track titled “Morning Dew (Donk)” on social media on July 4. The song blends Beyoncé’s classic vocals with melodic production reminiscent of late-1990s and early-2000s R&B, as track hits on those feelings a loving couple might have in the morning for each other.
The surprise release, written by Beyoncé, Pharrell Williams, The Dream, and Darius Dixon, is said to mark the beginning of a 60-day countdown to her 45th birthday on September 4. This date also marks the 20th anniversary of her second studio album, “B’Day,” released on September 4, 2006. The new song is expected to be included in a special 20th-anniversary edition of “B’Day.”
Regardless of when an album is coming along with this new track, other musical superstars are nonetheless pleased.
“WHAT!” exclaimed Uncle Waffles, a South African pop star and DJ.
Beyoncé’s fans are constantly seeking more music, leading many to speculate that we are just at the beginning of a larger, still-unannounced Act III album reportedly in the works. In 2022, Beyoncé stated that her seventh studio album, “Renaissance,” was the first part of a three-act project, with her 2024 album, “Cowboy Carter,” serving as the second act. However, two years later, details about the third act remain unclear.
What is clear is that you should be prepared to hear “Morning Dew” all day and night on Independence Day and beyond.
