A prime piece of Texas real estate is back on the market. Four years after initially being listed, a historic property just outside of San Antonio is once again available for anyone seeking their own ranching kingdom.
Located 30 minutes from San Antonio in northwest Bexar County, Mount Solitude Ranch has listed its 3,630-acre property for $79.9 million, giving future owners the chance to walk the same steps of Texas’ German settlers from the 1800s. First settled by the Heimsath family in the 1850s, the Thompson family is now selling the ranch and giving its next occupants the chance to follow in the footsteps of a 100-year ranching legacy.
“If there’s one thing I can say about the ranch is given it’s close proximity to San Antonio, no other property has the size, scope and history that it has,” Derick Thompson said in an Icon Global video.
Icon Global CEO Bernard Uechtritz said in a news release from 2023 that the company had received interest from private individuals and developers, but it’s unclear why the ranch has been relisted. MySA has reached out to Icon Global for more info on why Mount Solitude is back on the market.
Surrounded by 1,850 feet of elevation, Mount Solitude Ranch offers a “pristine panorama” of lakes, creeks, giant oaks, wildlife, hiking space, fishing areas and natural beauty, the listing reads. Icon Global calls it a “rare jewel with a richly burnished past and a bright sparkling future.”
“As I look toward the future of this property and whoever is lucky enough to own it, I am both excited and jealous for them because having grown up on this ranch and going to so many events with family and being able to bring friends out here, the memories that you make, you really can’t put a price on it,” Thompson said in the video.
