Donating can be an easy way to reduce clutter around your home and help someone in need. Many in Texas choose Goodwill as the recipient of their gently loved items, especially because there are more than 60 locations across the state.
The community organization accepts a range of products, from adult workwear to children’s toys. However, there are certain items the nonprofit cannot accept or sell. Before you make a trip to your neighborhood store, take note of the guidance the staff offers on turning your non-necessities into someone else’s treasure.
What items does Goodwill not accept?
Per the Heart of Texas Goodwill Industries Inc and Central Texas websites, it can not accept:
Ammunition
Weapons
Fireworks
Baby furniture, including cribs, strollers, and car seats
Automobile mechanical parts
Fridges, freezers, air conditioners, and other large appliances
Batteries
Large exercise equipment
Yard and household trash
Medications
Food
Tires
Building materials
Paint
Cleaning supplies
Hazardous, flammable, or toxic materials, including chemicals
Mattresses
Box springs
Pull-out couches
Bed pillows
Water bed components
CRT TVs
Console TVs
Projection TVs
CRT monitors
Baby items (unless they are clothes or shoes)

How to donate to Goodwill
You can drop off items at a location or schedule a pickup from your home. If you’d like to donate a vehicle, RV, boat or motorcycle, you must call (855) 534-3830 or fill out the form on the Central Texas branch’s website.
