ADDISON, Texas — On Friday afternoon, the city of Addison set the stage for America 250.
“This isn’t just any year, it’s a milestone birthday for America turning 250, so we wanted to bring everything up, we wanted to elevate the experience here,” said Faith Alford.
Alford, a spokesperson with the City of Addison, said half a million people were expected to watch across the city, which is only about 4.4 square miles, including some first-time attendees.
“We’re so lucky that the match is happening earlier in the day, so our international fans have a chance to experience Addison Kaboom town,” said Alford.
Sizzling up a taste of America, Christian Hernandez, a vendor, was hoping to wow international visitors.
“We have the best corn dogs around, we have the best fried foods around, the best everything around,” said Hernandez.
If the food doesn’t do the trick, he hopes Kaboom Town will.
“I think they’re going to find it amazing, you know the whole fireworks show, the airplanes, everything they’re gonna wanna come back for the Fourth of July, the third of July every single year,” said Hernandez.
That’s what Alford hopes too: that everyone, Texan or not, will go home with an America 250 to remember.
“Most importantly I hope they’re able to take back the memories and just share them throughout their countries and different places and with people they know,” said Alford.
