For the second straight year, the Big 12’s football media days will take place in Frisco.
In 2025, a lot of the buzz centered around Texas Tech’s roster building and the program’s ability to leap toward the top of the conference standings. Expect Joey McGuire’s team to be the talk of the town again in 2026.
Here are five storylines to follow during Big 12 media days Tuesday and Wednesday at The Star in Frisco:

Texas Tech begins the post-Sorsby era
Brendan Sorsby’s tenure in Lubbock was short. Really, the quarterback’s time at Texas Tech ended before it began.
After an offseason full of gambling chatter, lawsuits and eligibility discussions, expect McGuire to field questions about the Sorsby situation. The head coach will also likely be asked about moving forward with another signal caller, including sophomore Will Hammond.
Despite uncertainty about the quarterback position, Tech still has one of the conference’s deepest rosters. Some of the team’s top players will be in D-FW to explain why Tech should still be considered a Big 12 favorite.

A glimpse at Oklahoma State’s new-look roster
Oklahoma State spent its offseason revamping its football program, kicking things off by hiring Eric Morris as head coach. Morris is one of the hottest names in college football after guiding North Texas to a 12-2 mark in 2025.
The head coach didn’t head to Stillwater alone. He used the transfer portal to his advantage, landing former UNT playmakers like quarterback Drew Mestemaker, running back Caleb Hawkins and linebacker Ethan Wesloski. Morris will make his address to media members Tuesday morning before opening the floor to any questions.
Expect Morris to discuss his new-look roster and the challenges he’s anticipating in a Power Four conference. Mestemaker, Hawkins and Wesloski will also be on hand to break down why they chose Oklahoma State as their new collegiate home.
Coach Prime at full strength?
Last year, Colorado head coach Deion Sanders fielded several questions about his health. He kept things close to the vest, opting to focus more on his team’s progress. After undergoing surgery for bladder cancer, Sanders seems confident about his state heading into 2026.

Sanders’ squad will likely be focused on bouncing back after finishing the 2025 campaign with a 3-9 record. The team found itself near the bottom of the Big 12 standings, going 1-8 in conference play.
Its success could hinge on the productivity of quarterback Julian Lewis. The young quarterback saw limited action last year, finishing with 290 passing yards and two touchdowns through the air. Will Sanders endorse Lewis as his full-time starting quarterback?
Can a new QB give Dave Aranda’s Baylor team a boost?
Baylor finished the 2025 season with a lot of question marks. The school quickly handled a key aspect when it announced that Dave Aranda would return as its head football coach in November.
Now, Aranda enters another pivotal campaign where Baylor looks to regain its status as a Big 12 power. The Bears will have a new leader under center in Florida transfer DJ Lagway, whose father, Derek, played at Baylor from 1997-2001. Lagway will look to regain his footing after a sour ending to his time at Florida.

Has Lagway adjusted to his new role in Waco? Aranda and the quarterback will have a chance to answer those questions Tuesday.
Sonny Dykes has some key issues to address
When Sorsby was briefly deemed eligible to play for Texas Tech, TCU head coach Sonny Dykes was among those to rip the ruling and its impact on college football moving forward. Dykes said he felt the people who were supposed to guide college football “aren’t guiding it” when Sorsby was granted a temporary injunction. On Wednesday, Dykes will likely have a few things to say about the Sorsby dilemma and the Texas Tech football program.
Like Baylor’s Aranda, Dykes is handing over the quarterback duties to a new player. After Josh Hoover transferred to Indiana, TCU quickly landed a transfer commitment from former Harvard quarterback Jaden Craig, who will work in new offensive coordinator Gordon Sammis’ system.

In March, Dykes appeared to take a jab at Hoover for his past performances at TCU. Will Dykes have more to say about his former signal caller?
