WYLIE, Texas — A 20-year-old man is in critical condition with a head injury after Wylie police say a 19-year-old suspect intentionally hit him with a car on Sunday afternoon.
According to the Wylie Police Department, an officer was flagged down at about 3:38 p.m. in the 800 block of Woodbridge Parkway about possible racing in the back of a parking lot.

Upon investigating, the officer found the incident that just happened in the lot at 207 Security Court, officials say. Emergency personnel were called immediately to help the victim.
Investigation found the victim and the suspect, 19-year-old Rene Padilla, had a verbal altercation, and at some point, the victim reportedly was hit by Padilla’s car after he got out of his own vehicle.
Padilla was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Police say detectives expect to upgrade the charges at some point.
Accident investigators and detectives part of the Wylie Police Department’s criminal investigation division are still investigating the incident.
