LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Lubbock police are offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in connection with a deadly shooting near the 700 block of North Ithaca Avenue.
Joe Ybarra Jr., 27, was found around 12:30 a.m. Sunday with multiple gunshot wounds outside a north Lubbock apartment complex near North Ithaca Avenue, west of Indiana Avenue. He died at the hospital. Police have not said what led up to the shooting.
Ybarra’s family said he leaves behind a son and that they want justice for his death.
“We know his baby is gonna miss him so much, he was a daddy’s boy. His dad did so much for him. They just took him away from his son and his family and his mom and dad, and it wasn’t worth what they did,” a family member said.
The family said they are grateful for any help that would lead police to an arrest.
Ybarra’s family is raising money for his funeral. On Saturday, they will be near 4th St. and Frankford Ave. washing cars, selling food, and giving haircuts. On Sunday, they will be at El Santiago Bar near Clovis Rd. and 2nd St.
Lubbock police are asking anyone with information to call Crime Line at 806-741-1000. A $5,000 reward is being offered for a tip that leads to an arrest.
