Man arrested on child grooming, assault charges

CORPUS CHRISTI —A Corpus Christi man is facing multiple felony charges after being arrested by the Nueces County Sheriff’s Office.
Richard Salazar, 30, was booked into the Nueces County Jail on Thursday, according to jail records.
Salazar is charged with two counts of child grooming and two counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child.
Jail records show bond was set at $50,000 for each child grooming charge and $150,000 for each aggravated sexual assault of a child charge, bringing his total bond to $400,000.
Under Texas law, aggravated sexual assault of a child is a first-degree felony punishable by five to 99 years or life in prison upon conviction. Child grooming is a second-degree felony punishable by two to 20 years in prison.
