HOUSTON – A man was rushed to the hospital after being shot Tuesday morning in east Houston, prompting a heavy law enforcement presence in the area.
According to the Houston Fire Department, crews responded around 6:51 a.m. to the 6800 block of Canal Street, near 6825 Canal St., for reports of a gunshot victim.
The Houston Fire Department said the man, identified as a suspected immigration violator, suffered a gunshot wound to his right flank, or stomach area, and was transported to Ben Taub Hospital. Houston Fire Department officials said CPR was in progress as he was taken to the hospital.
Three others were detained.
Federal investigators, including ICE, are on the scene.
Authorities have not released the circumstances leading up to the shooting, and no information about a suspect or possible arrests has been made public.
