FORT WORTH – Bernardine Zarate Wilson, 85, affectionately known to family and friends as “Bennie,” passed away Friday, July 3, 2026, after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. Funeral Service: 12 p.m. Wednesday, July 15, 2026, in Mount Olivet Chapel. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 14, 2026, in the Breyley Suite at Mount Olivet. Bernardine was preceded in death by her husband, James (Lefty) Wilson; her parents, Julian Zarate and Maria Hernandez Zarate; her brothers, Manuel Zarate and Edward (Eddie) Zarate; her sisters, Mary Edkin Zarate, Juanita Zarate Gonzales, Lupe Zarate Pacheco, Julia Garcia Zarate, and Carmen Zarate. She is survived by her sons, Julian Guerrero and wife Coleen, James (JC) Wilson and son-in-law, Kent Darr; granddaughter, Jessica Guerrero; two fur grandbabies, Rita and Jimmy Dean; her sisters, Lucy Chantaca and Pauline Zamora; an endeared family member, niece Rosie Ruiz; and a host of loving, nieces and nephews. “Bennie” was loved by all who knew her, she could appear at times to be tough but if you touched her heart, there was not anything she wouldn’t do for you.
