The first U.S. location of the Hakata ramen brand has unveiled a preview of the authentic Japanese dishes
Plano’s newest international dining destination is giving North Texans their first taste of what’s to come. Kouchan Ramen Plano, which will become the brand’s first U.S. location, unveiled several of its signature menu items ahead of its anticipated Fall 2026 opening.
The restaurant, produced by Hakata Ikkousha, will bring authentic Hakata-style tonkotsu ramen to Plano while expanding a concept that already operates locations in Bangkok and Seoul.
The restaurant is expected to open at 4709 W. Parker Rd., Suite 440, Plano.
A Taste Of Hakata
At the heart of Kouchan Ramen’s menu is its Signature Tonkotsu, a traditional Hakata-style ramen featuring pork bone broth simmered for hours to develop a rich umami flavor balanced by subtle natural sweetness.
Each bowl is prepared with the restaurant’s thin, straight noodles, which are made in-house using a specially developed flour blend. The ramen is finished with oversized slices of chashu pork and fresh green onions, staying true to the Hakata style that originated in Fukuoka, Japan.
Guests will also be able to customize their bowls by selecting noodle firmness — from soft to extra firm and ordering kaedama, or extra noodles, a longtime Hakata ramen tradition.
Three Signature Bowls
In addition to its classic tonkotsu ramen, Kouchan has previewed two additional signature varieties. God Fire Tonkotsu builds on the traditional broth with chili oil, delivering a spicy version while maintaining the richness of the original tonkotsu base. For garlic lovers, Black Garlic Tonkotsu incorporates roasted garlic oil, known as mayu, creating a deeper, more robust flavor profile and giving the broth its signature dark color.
Don’t Skip The Gyoza
The restaurant will also serve Hakata-style pan-fried gyoza, seared until crisp on the outside while remaining juicy inside. The dumplings are designed to complement the restaurant’s ramen offerings and will serve as one of Kouchan’s signature side dishes.

Bringing Hakata Tradition To Plano
Celebrating its 21st anniversary this year, Hakata Ikkousha operates more than 60 locations worldwide across multiple restaurant brands. Kouchan Ramen Plano will become the concept’s third Kouchan location globally and its first in the United States, introducing one of Japan’s best-known regional ramen styles to North Texas.
An official grand opening date has not yet been announced, though the restaurant says it remains on track for a Fall 2026 debut.
