Sales tax revenue from May sales up in Lubbock, across Texas

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Sales tax revenue being sent to the city of Lubbock for sales made in May is up compared to a year ago, as is the year-to-date tally. The latest report from Acting Comptroller Kelly Hancock also shows an upward trend statewide.

The report released Wednesday is for revenue being sent to cities and other local governments in July, generated from May sales by businesses that report tax monthly.

Lubbock will receive $8,944,843.18, which is up 5.23 percent compared to the payment received in July 2025.

Lubbock’s year-to-date revenue is $66,543,741.69, which is up 6.69 percent over the year-to-date total by this point in 2025.

Statewide, about $1.2 billion will be sent to cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose districts across Texas, an increase of 5.6 percent over the payment at this time last year. The year-to-date amount sent to districts statewide is 5.7 percent higher than year-to-date through this point of 2025.
