SHERMAN, Texas — The Texas Department of Public Safety has added a North Texas man wanted on multiple sexual assault-related charges to the Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitives List.

DPS said 49-year-old James Lee Kirby, from Sherman, is wanted out of Bryan County, Oklahoma, for failure to appear stemming from prior first-degree rape and incest charges. Authorities said Grayson County also issued warrants for Kirby’s arrest on June 2 charging him with one count of aggravated sexual assault and two counts of sexual assault.

Texas Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $7,500 for information leading to Kirby’s arrest. All tips are guaranteed to remain anonymous.

According to DPS, Kirby was arrested in Grayson County on Nov. 5, 2024, on an aggravated sexual assault charge. He later posted bond and was released from jail.

Authorities said Kirby was on pretrial release for the Oklahoma charges when his GPS monitoring device stopped working shortly before his scheduled trial in early 2026. Investigators said he has been missing since.

Kirby is described as 6 feet 4 inches tall and weighing between 250 and 300 pounds. DPS said he has ties to Sherman, Texas, and Cartwright, Oklahoma.

Investigators said Kirby has several distinctive tattoos, including an animal skull with the words “SIZE MATTERS” on his upper right arm and an animal inside scope crosshairs on his upper left arm. He also has tattoos on both forearms, his right hand and thumb, and his lower left leg.

DPS said Kirby is an avid hunter and may have access to firearms.

Anyone with information about Kirby’s whereabouts is urged to contact Texas Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-252-TIPS (8477), submitting a tip through the DPS website or using the “Submit a Tip” feature on the Texas DPS Facebook page. Tipsters must use one of those methods to be eligible for the cash reward.
