LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Lubbock police have arrested a teenager in connection with a deadly shooting at a house party at an AirBNB in south Lubbock that happened in September.
17-year-old Adrian Casias has been charged with deadly conduct in connection with the shootout near 76th Street and Chicago Avenue. Investigators report multiple people fired more than 100 rounds during and after a fight at the party.
The gunfire killed Deon Lilly and wounded another woman. Police arrested Casias in connection with a separate case but identified him as someone who was at the party that night.
Casias reportedly admitted to shooting but claims he only fired above the crowd, not into it, and not at anyone in particular, according to police. Officers recovered his weapon and matched it to bullets found at the scene.
Casias is not charged in connection with either of the victims’ injuries or death at this time.
