This week was the hottest of the summer thus far in Dallas-Fort Worth, with the region officially logging three triple-digit days. Although the weather is not expected to change drastically anytime soon, slightly cooler conditions are on the way.
Friday’s high is forecast by the National Weather Service’s Fort Worth office to be 100 degrees, with a low of 81. The temperature topped out at 101 degrees on Thursday, one of the hottest days so far. The mercury rose to or above the century mark on Monday and Tuesday as well.
The heat index, or “feels like” temperature, could rise to 104 Friday.
North Texas will see clear skies and moderate humidity Friday, according to the weather service, with wind gusts up to 14 miles per hour possible.
Though not currently forecast to surpass triple-digits, weekend temperatures will be sweltering nonetheless. Saturday’s high is currently forecast by the weather service to be 99 degrees with a heat index of 105, and Sunday’s, 96 degrees with a heat index of 104.
Showers and storms may come later in the weekend. Though Friday and Saturday have minimal precipitation chances, Sunday’s climbs to 51%, according to the weather service.
Temperatures are set to cool slightly to the low 90s early next week, according to the weather service. Monday’s high is currently expected to be 93 degrees, with Tuesday and Wednesday sharing similar forecasts.
Still, the heat index is set to remain above 100 for the foreseeable future. With that in mind, there are precautions North Texans can take to beat the summer heat. The CDC recommends drinking a lot of water, staying in the shade when possible, wearing a hat and applying sunscreen regularly.
