Kouchan Ramen, a Japanese chain specializing in Hakata-style ramen, will open its first U.S. restaurant this fall.
It will be located at 4709 W. Parker Road, Suite 440, in Plano, and will be the brand’s third international restaurant, joining its locations in Bangkok and Seoul.
The restaurant’s menu focuses on tonkotsu, gyoza, and house-made noodles, and aims to introduce North Texas diners to one of the most representative varieties of ramen.
Hakata-style ramen is characterized by its rich, thick tonkotsu broth, made from pork bones, and ultra-thin noodles.
The centerpiece of the menu will be the Signature Tonkotsu, a ramen prepared with pork bone broth simmered for several hours to achieve a deep flavor and creamy texture. The dish is served with noodles, pork chashu and fresh green onions. Diners can customize their bowl with extra noodles and choose the firmness of their noodles — soft, regular, firm or extra firm.
For those who prefer more intense flavors, the restaurant will offer the God Fire Tonkotsu, a spicy version that combines the traditional broth with a special chile oil.
Another specialty will be the Black Garlic Tonkotsu, made with roasted garlic oil, which gives the broth a dark color and makes it richer.
As a side dish, Kouchan Ramen will also serve Hakata-style pan-fried gyoza, dumplings with a crispy exterior and a juicy interior. This dish is traditionally served alongside tonkotsu ramen.
The exact opening date has not yet been announced, though it is scheduled for fall 2026.
