Precinct 1 Commissioner Rodney Ellis and Precinct 4 Commissioner Lesley Briones expressed immediate opposition to the idea, sharing concerns of the day-to-day workload and flow of county needs.
“We’re five CEOs, and a county administrator, the way I see it, is a COO. We pass the policy, and you implement it,” Briones said.
Precinct 3 Commissioner Tom Ramsey, who was originally against the office’s creation, voiced concerns that suddenly removing the position and office may not be the best move.
“I’m for everything that the county administrator does except committee meetings, and I think she’s made progress even on committee meetings,” Ramsey said. “So I’ll not be supporting this specific [motion], although I think there are some things that would help make the job more effective.”
