A physical altercation outside a business in the Medical District earlier this month has led to murder charges against a 34-year-old man, Dallas police said.
On July 5, at approximately 2:13 a.m., Dallas police officers responded to a disturbance call in the 4200 block of Harry Hines Boulevard.
According to the preliminary investigation, Dillion Hill, 34, and John Zuniga, 50, were involved in a physical fight outside when Hill punched Zuniga. The punch caused Zuniga to fall and hit his head, police said.
Dallas Fire-Rescue transported Zuniga to a local hospital in critical condition.
Hill was arrested at the scene and initially charged with aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury. However, Zuniga died from his injuries at the hospital on July 9, prompting authorities to upgrade Hill’s charge to murder, according to police.
The Dallas Police Department stated that the investigation is ongoing. Authorities are asking anyone with information regarding the incident to contact Det. G. Curtis at 214-671-3633 or via email at guy.curtis@dallaspolice.gov.
