Crime Stoppers of Southeast Texas has raised its maximum reward for anonymous tips from $1,000 to $1,500, marking the first increase since the organization was founded, according to a news release from the organization.
The change is effective immediately and applies to qualifying tips that lead to an arrest, the filing of criminal charges, or the recovery of stolen property, illegal narcotics or other evidence tied to criminal activity, the release states.
The higher reward amount covers Hardin, Jasper, Jefferson and Orange counties, where Crime Stoppers of Southeast Texas works with local law enforcement agencies to help solve crimes.
“Community members play a vital role in public safety,” said Richard Vasser, chairman of the Board of Crime Stoppers of Southeast Texas, in the release. “By increasing our reward amounts, we hope to encourage more individuals to come forward with information while maintaining the anonymity that Crime Stoppers is known for. Every anonymous tip has the potential to make a significant difference in keeping our communities safe.”
Tipsters are never required to reveal their identity and are assigned a unique tip number to follow up on their information and potential reward eligibility, according to the release.
Anonymous tips can be submitted by calling Crime Stoppers at 409-833-TIPS (8477), using the P3 Tips mobile app, or submitting online through the Crime Stoppers of Southeast Texas website.
Since its founding, the organization has worked with local law enforcement to help solve crimes, recover stolen property and remove illegal drugs and weapons from the community, the release states.
