The Amber Alert issued last week for a missing San Antonio baby was discontinued by the Texas Department of Public Safety on Monday afternoon. SAPD says despite the discontinuation, the baby is still missing.
DPS cited the San Antonio Police Department as the lead agency in the investigation.
San Antonio police have provided the following statement:
“The Amber Alert was discontinued, but 7-month-old Ozana Cisneros remains actively missing. The alert has not produced any leads, and SAPD continues to investigate.”
DPS issued the alert Thursday afternoon, saying Ozana hadn’t been seen since June 10 just south of downtown. Authorities also said Ozana’s mother, 19-year-old Maximina Cisneros, was missing.
San Antonio police said Maximina was found at a vacant structure along Parkview Drive last Friday – about a mile from where Ozana was last seen weeks ago – and taken to the hospital. But the baby wasn’t found there, according to authorities, prolonging the search for her.
FBI personnel were also at that scene where police said Maximina was found.
Later on Friday night, authorities said they found skeletal remains in Concepción Park, but could not confirm if it was related to the Amber Alert or even human bones at the time.
Officials had said they believed Ozana may be in grave or immediate danger.
Authorities previously confirmed a connection between the Amber Alert investigation and an arrest made Friday morning, hours before Maximina Cisneros was found.
According to police, officers arrested 24-year-old Isaiah Marquis Lopez in connection with a June 9 shooting at the vacant Parkview Drive home. No one was injured in the shooting.
An arrest warrant states Lopez had been squatting at the property. He was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He has not been charged in connection with Ozana’s disappearance.
