Heavy rain overnight and through the morning has led to flooding and multiple road closures across the city. According to the Bexar Flood map, at least 12 road closures are being reported across San Antonio on Tuesday, July 14. The closures are primarily affecting multiple parts of the area.
According to traffic monitoring site SigAlert, high-water is being reported on the two left lanes along I-10 near FM 53, backing up traffic to Camp Bullis. There was crash reported earlier in that area, however it has since cleared.
A flood watch issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) remains in effect for the following counties until 9 p.m. on Thursday, July 16 for the following counties: Bandera, Bexar, Blanco, Burnet, Comal, Dimmit, Edwards, Frio, Gillespie, Hays, Kendall, Kerr, Kinney, Llano, Maverick, Medina, Real, Travis, Uvalde, Val Verde, Williamson, and Zavala. Meanwhile, a flash flood warning is in effect until 8:30 a.m. Tuesday for eastern Bandera County.
“There is the potential for life threatening flooding somewhere in the watch area. Storm totals of 2 to 6 inches are possible over the Flood Watch area. Isolated totals of 10 to 15 inches of rain are possible over parts of the Rio Grande Plains, southern Edwards Plateau, and western Hill Country,” NWS said.
The storms also led to power outages in San Antonio. As of 6:55 a.m. on Tuesday, July 14 CPS Energy reported at least 21 outages impacting 1,916 customers.
