Nearly 2,000 CPS Energy customers in San Antonio are without power as severe storms roll through the area on Tuesday, July 14. A CPS Energy outage map shows 1,599 customers are currently without power due to 19 active outages as of 8:34 a.m.
The National Weather Service has reported that very heavy rain is affecting parts of Bexar, Comal, Medina, Uvalde and Val Verde counties. Some areas have already received 2 to 4 inches of rain over the past three hours, and intense, ongoing rainfall is further raising water levels.
CPS Energy posted on X around 6:38 a.m. that its crews are working to restore power. However, flooded roads and hazardous conditions may limit access and delay restoration efforts.
“Crew safety remains our top priority as they respond to weather-related outages across the service area,” CPS Energy wrote on X.
A Flood Watch remains in effect for parts of the Hill Country, the Interstate 35 corridor, the southern Edwards Plateau and the Rio Grande Plains from now through Thursday evening, according to the NWS. There is potential for life-threatening flooding somewhere in the watch area.
