TEXAS — Heavy rainfall on Tuesday going into Wednesday morning is creating the conditions for a high-risk flood event in South-Central Texas.
According to Spectrum News 1 chief meteorologist Ricky Cody, 10 to 20 inches of additional rainfall could hit the region throughout the day, causing “catastrophic” flooding to become more likely. River flooding is expected to range from moderate to major.

The Texas Game Wardens posted on social media Tuesday morning a video of a car being swept away in Uvalde County, west of Sabinal. The people in the car were rescued “shortly before it was swept away,” according to the post.
“Texas Game Wardens are responding to multiple swiftwater rescue calls in South Texas counties,” the post said.
Ahead of the severe weather event, Gov. Greg Abbott directed the Texas Division of Emergency Management, or TDEM, to activate the state’s emergency response protocol on Sunday.
