Eight people were able to escape a house fire in Plano that claimed the life of several of the family’s pets. The fire left the house uninhabitable, displacing the family. Two firefighters were injured while battling the blaze, with one requiring treatment at a medical facility, according to the Little Rock-Fox Fire Protection District.

The district said the American Red Cross was contacted to assist the family.

The fire crew responded about 3:01 a.m. July 12 to the 400 block of East Steward Street, according to a fire district release.

Upon arrival, crews found heavy fire billowing from the house. Flames had spread to both the main household residence and a detached garage, the fire district.

The fire district said two firefighters were injured during the firefighting operations. One was treated at the scene, while the other required additional medical treatment, the district said.
