Traffic alert: TxDOT responding to large metal object on US 181 Causeway Bridge

Drivers are urged to use caution as TxDOT responds to a reported large metal object on the bridge.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Drivers traveling between Portland and Corpus Christi should expect significant delays on Wednesday morning as heavy traffic has been reported on the southbound US 181 Nueces Bay Causeway Bridge.

According to the Corpus Christi Police Department, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is sending a crew to the bridge to remove a large metal object. Police said dispatch has not been advised whether any lanes are closed.

Motorists are urged to use caution while traveling through the area and consider an alternate route if possible until traffic conditions improve.
