Parts of Texas are on alert as storms continue to bring torrential rainfall on Wednesday, July 15. Evacuations are underway in Medina County, one of several areas where flooding is worsening.
The Medina County Offices of Emergency Management & Fire Marshal said in a Facebook post at 11:47 a.m. that Seco Creek is rising rapidly and that conditions could change quickly. An office representative told MySA by phone just before 1 p.m. that evacuations are underway but could not specify exactly where or when they began.
Officials wrote in the post that residents in low-lying and flood-prone areas should move to higher ground immediately. Folks in the area should stay prepared because they might be evacuated on short notice if the situation worsens, officials said.
According to a social media statement, emergency officials are working to establish an evacuation center. Additional information about the location will be released as soon as it’s decided.

The Kendall County Office of Emergency Management issued a shelter-in-place alert for the City of Boerne at 10:40 a.m. Residents of Boerne and Fair Oaks Ranch were encouraged to seek higher ground and avoid the roads while emergency crews continue working.
Further south, a tornado touched down near the Dominion in San Antonio around 8 a.m. It moved north toward Leon Springs and weakened as it approached Fair Oaks Ranch. The tornado warning has since expired. It’s unclear whether anyone was injured.
