Several parts of South Central Texas are experiencing flooding on Wednesday, July 15, as storms continue to move across the region. Some residents in Uvalde, west of San Antonio, are being evacuated as the situation intensifies.
The Uvalde Police Department wrote in a Facebook post at 1:56 p.m. that officers are mandating an evacuation for parts of the city that were heavily impacted. Citizens in the evacuation area have already been directly notified by first responders, according to the department.
Police later shared a map on Facebook to show which areas are being evacuated. The department said on Facebook that it was using its Ready Set Go program to determine evacuations, where it uses a green, yellow and red color system to warn residents.
“Ready is GREEN. This means if you are in a green zone, pack a bag that includes vital documents, medication, pet food, family heirlooms, anything you can’t live without, and place it by the door.
“Set is YELLOW- Take everything you put by the door and put it in your car. Know your route out of the evacuation zone and wait for RED.
“GO-RED- Get it in the car and leave now!”
Authorities say those who live along the Leona River should begin seeking higher ground, and everyone else should remain vigilant in case further mandatory evacuations are necessary.

Earlier this morning, in a press conference led by state, city, and county leaders, officials said emergency crews had conducted 25 high-water rescues on Tuesday, July 14.
Evacuations are also underway in Boerne and parts of Medina County. Further northeast, a tornado touched down near the Dominion in San Antonio around 8 a.m. It moved north toward Leon Springs and weakened as it approached Fair Oaks Ranch. The tornado warning has since expired. It’s unclear whether anyone was injured.
