EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — A free health fair and mobile clinic offering a wide range of screenings and services is happening on Saturday.
The University of Texas at El Paso Colleges of Health Sciences and Nursing will host the HOPE+ Health Fair and Mobile Clinic in partnership with Texas Tech Health El Paso. UTEP health faculty, staff and students will be on-site offering the public free health screenings, immunizations and additional services.
The event is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Texas Tech Health El Paso, 5001 El Paso Drive, El Paso, TX 79905.
Community parking will be available in the Medical Education Building Lot T4, off El Paso Drive.
UTEP and Texas Tech Health El Paso students will join 93 community agencies to provide free screenings, including dental, vision, hearing, cholesterol, glucose, BMI, cortisol, mental health, foot lesions, HIV, Hepatitis C and back-to-school physical exams, among others.
Additional services will include free food bags from the El Pasoans Fighting Hunger Food Bank and healthy snacks from The Mustard Seed Café while supplies last, along with barber services.
Organizers said this year marks the 10-year anniversary of the H.O.P.E. initiative, led by Eva Moya, Ph.D., chair and professor of UTEP’s Department of Social Work; Guillermina Solis, Ph.D., associate professor in the College of Nursing; and Elizabeth Camacho from the College of Health Sciences.
