City of Boerne officials provided an update Wednesday, July 15, on ongoing flooding that displaced residents and prompted dozens of rescues.
Emergency crews conducted 35 water rescues, while the Boerne Police Department received 109 calls for service, according to Chief Steve Perez. He said River Road was among the hardest-hit areas and that crews carried out three vehicle rescues. No injuries or deaths were reported.
Perez said more than 30 people were evacuated within the city, while 53 residents were moved to shelters. Some have since returned home. The shelters were expected to close at 6 p.m., and no mandatory evacuation was issued.
Police are still working to ensure callers from the Cibolo Creek area are safe. Perez said the city continues to assess road damage and clear debris. Drivers are urged to stay off closed roads.
More rain is expected in the Boerne area Wednesday night, according to the National Weather Service (NWS). A flood watch issued by NWS remains in effect for the following counties until 9 p.m. on Thursday, July 16 for the following counties: Bandera, Bexar, Blanco, Burnet, Comal, Dimmit, Edwards, Frio, Gillespie, Hays, Kendall, Kerr, Kinney, Llano, Maverick, Medina, Real, Travis, Uvalde, Val Verde, Williamson, and Zavala.
