The suspect accused of shooting his co-worker during an altercation at an Outback Steakhouse restaurant in Marrero last month has been arrested in Texas, according to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Jeffrey Williams, 40, of Marrero, was taken into custody July 9 in Grand Prairie, Texas, just outside of Dallas, said Sgt. Brandon Veal, spokesperson for the Sheriff’s Office.
He was still being held there Wednesday, according to jail records.
Williams is accused of shooting a 49-year-old fellow employee at the Outback located in the 1600 block of Barataria Boulevard in Marrero on the night of June 24, Veal said.
Williams and the victim had been involved in an argument, according to authorities. The disagreement continued outside where Williams shot the victim once in the chest, authorities said.
The victim was taken to a hospital in critical condition. He was expected to recover, authorities said.
Once returned to Jefferson Parish, Williams will be booked with attempted second-degree murder and obstruction of justice.
