A flash flood emergency — the highest level of flood warning — has been issued for over 22,000 people in southeastern Uvalde County, Texas, until 10 a.m. CT (11 a.m. ET). Uvalde, Sabinal, Knippa and Uvalde Estates are among the towns included in the warning.
“This is a PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SITUATION. SEEK HIGHER GROUND NOW!” the National Weather Service said.

Uvalde County has already been hard-hit by flooding this week with dozens of water rescues.
New storms this morning have dropped up to 8 inches of rain on the area, pushing storm totals since Monday night to between 10 to 20 inches. The upper end of those totals is more than half the yearly average rainfall for the area in just a few days.
The warning is the second flash flood emergency issued on Thursday morning. A separate one was issued for portions of Texas Hill County impacted by the deadly July 4 floods.
