COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) – On Wednesday, the City of College Station officially received state recognition as a certified tourism-friendly community.
The esteemed designation from the Governor’s Office acknowledges the city’s dedicated efforts in fostering a welcoming environment for visitors and the significant economic contributions tourism brings to the community.
“It’s really a recognition from the state of Texas and the office of the government of those efforts and all the things that tourism helps bring to the community,” Madeline Phillips with Travel Texas said.
The recognition underscores a city-wide commitment to hospitality and highlights Visit College Station’s continuous work to elevate the city’s profile on a larger scale.
City staff, council members, and stakeholders celebrated this milestone, reflecting a shared pride in their daily endeavors to enhance the visitor experience.
“We want to celebrate with our partners, with our council members, with our staff because it is something that we strive for every day,” assistant director of tourism Jeremiah Cook said.

As the holiday season approaches, the city is channeling the celebratory energy into Christmas in College Station.
Visit College Station announced on Wednesday that the season will kick off next week.
A new event this year will be outdoor Christmas movie nights at City Hall. For four weekends in December, families and community members are invited to gather on the City Hall lawn to enjoy holiday films and immerse themselves in the Christmas spirit.
While anticipation builds for this year’s celebrations, city leaders are already looking ahead to 2026, exploring innovative ways to make future holiday events even more magical.
