A northeast Houston suburb is trading axes for steak knives at a popular shopping center. Kings Harbor in Kingwood has announced the 20-acre waterfront development’s newest restaurant, Table 7 Prime Steakhouse.
Table 7 will take over the former space of Don’t Axe at 1660 West Lake Houston P-kwy. Don’t Axe closed in January 2025 after less than one year in business.
What used to be an entertainment bar and lounge with side-by-side axe-throwing lanes is being transformed into what Table 7 executive chef Thomas Nguyen hopes will be a “premier dining destination in Kingwood.”
According to a recent release from the Kingwood shopping center, Nguyen brings extensive culinary expertise to the restaurant, having spent the last 20 years working in fine-dining establishments, upscale-casual restaurants, luxury hotels and high-volume hospitality operations. He has also opened multiple restaurants and served as executive chef for several hospitality groups and culinary concepts.
As for his restaurant philosophy, Nguyen said it is simple: “Respect the ingredients, execute with precision, and never stop learning.”
For Table 7 Prime Steakhouse, Nguyen is focused on bringing an elevated dining experience to the community, with a vision that “centers on serving premium steaks, utilizing quality ingredients, and providing genuine hospitality that leaves a lasting impression on every guest.”
An official opening date has yet to be announced for Table 7 Prime Steakhouse. According to a permit filed with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, the estimated $1 million renovation for the 3,600-square-foot restaurant is expected to be completed by the end of October.
