Each year, National Cowboy Day is celebrated on the on the fourth Saturday of July and honors the history and contributions of cowboys and cowgirls. Here in North Texas, there will be events happening in Forth Worth and Garland.
NATIONAL DAY OF THE AMERICAN COWBOY AT THE FORT WORTH STOCKYARDS
There will be lots of cowboy-inspired events and activities happening around the Stockyards during this all-day event. These include a fiddle showcase, face painting, cow milking contests, armadillo races, the cowboy celebration parade, Riscky’s BBQ rib-eating contest, Old West comedy gunfight shows and more.

JOHN WAYNE: AN AMERICAN EXPERIENCE
If you do head over to the Stockyards on National Cowboy Day, wear a cowboy hat and you’ll receive $5 off of admission to this exhibition of everything John Wayne right there in the Stockyards district.

GARLAND’S NATIONAL DAY OF THE COWBOY CELEBRATION
Downtown Garland will have cowboy-themed games and activities including tiny-hat painting, a mechanical bull, a tiny-hat scavenger hunt and more. There will also be a live performance by country artist David Adam Byrnes.
