(KBTX) – The nonconference matchup between Texas A&M and Tarleton for the 2026 football season has been canceled, A&M athletic director Trev Alberts confirmed with KBTX.
The decision to cancel the game was mutual and the programs will look to reconnect for a matchup again in the future, according to Alberts.
Good Bull Hunting’s Robert Behrens first reported the cancellation.
A&M already has nonconference matchups scheduled with Missouri State and Arizona State to go along with the new nine-game Southeastern Conference slate. The game with the Texans was originally scheduled for Nov. 21.
According to emails between Tarleton and Texas A&M obtained by KBTX, neither school will be on the hook for guarantee payments or cancellation fees.
A&M will have home games against Missouri State, Arizona State, Arkansas, Kentucky, Tennessee and Texas in 2026. They will travel to Alabama, LSU, Missouri, Oklahoma and South Carolina.
