Fort Worth plans to spend $29 million rebuilding West Bailey Boswell Road from Boat Club Road to Wind River Drive.
The project will convert the existing four-lane, undivided road into four 11-foot lanes separated by a 16-foot median. Plans also include turn lanes, streetlights and shared-use paths for pedestrians and cyclists on both sides of the road.
Raul Lopez, Fort Worth program manager, led the June 23 public meeting at Lake Country Elementary School. The project is in Council District 7.
“This (project will create) an undivided roadway where there have been at least two fatalities that we’re aware of, so that triggered looking at this corridor very seriously when we passed the 2022 bond program,” Lopez said.
Three existing span-wire traffic signals will be replaced with permanent mast-arm signals. The city also plans to add signals at Centerboard Lane and Silo Drive/Big Apple Drive. The project starts mid-July with an estimated completion in July 2028. The contractor plans to complete the work in phases while maintaining two lanes in each direction.
The project is funded mostly through Fort Worth’s 2022 bond funds, with additional money from transportation impact fees and a developer contribution.
