AUSTIN (KXAN) — After this week’s catastrophic flooding in Central Texas, President Donald Trump has authorized the Federal Emergency Management Agency to coordinate disaster relief efforts to counties affected.

Federal disaster relief assistance will include the following counties:

Federal disaster assistance is available to supplement state, tribal and local response efforts due to the emergency conditions resulting from the flooding that began July 12, according to a press release from FEMA.

In addition, FEMA will provide assistance to save lives, to protect property, public health and safety, and to lessen or avert the threat of a catastrophe, the release added.

The release said FEMA is authorized to “identify, mobilize, and provide at its discretion, equipment and resources necessary to alleviate the impacts of the emergency.”

Emergency protective measures, limited to direct federal assistance, will be provided at 75% federal funding, the release said.
