The 1,736-acre development, known as The Ridge, was recently acquired by Wilson Capital from Walton Global, according to commercial real estate firm Newmark, which brokered the transaction.
Located near Niederwald, east of Kyle, the community will eventually include more than 6,200 single-family homes, a 13-acre amenity center and roughly 60 acres set aside for future commercial and multifamily development. The project sits near State Highway 21 and State Highway 130, providing access to Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, downtown Austin, Tesla’s Gigafactory Texas and the growing manufacturing corridor in eastern Travis County.
Designed to accommodate the area’s continued population growth, plans also call for 119 acres of parks and open space, including nature trails, a community hall and a fishing camp. Another 57 acres have been reserved for future schools within Hays CISD, including sites for an elementary, middle and high school.
Chron recently reported on plans for Lockhart Manor, a 1,500-acre community expected to bring roughly 4,000 homes near Kyle, as well as another proposed development that could add nearly 3,000 homes in Hays County. Austin Point, another major Texas master-planned community, is also moving forward with thousands of homes in Fort Bend County, underscoring continued demand for large-scale residential developments across the state.
“The Ridge will be a defining master-planned community for Central Texas,” Steven Boice, a vice chairman at Newmark, said in a statement. “Its thoughtful layout will meet the needs of homebuilders, retailers and residents for years to come.”
Construction is expected to begin later this year.
