LUBBOCK, Texas (NEWS RELEASE) – The Lubbock Heritage Society invites community members to experience the history, culture, and enduring legacy of one of downtown Lubbock’s most beloved landmarks during “Come Downtown to the Cactus,” a free public program celebrating the historic Cactus Theater.

The event will take place on Monday, July 20, 2026 from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at the Cactus Theater, 1812 Buddy Holly Ave., Lubbock, TX 79401. The program is free and open to both Lubbock Heritage Society members and the public. No registration is required.
Guests will tour the theater and enjoy presentations from Cactus Theater owner Darryl Holland and Lubbock artist, writer, and musician Andy Wilkinson, who will share stories about the theater’s remarkable history and its lasting influence on downtown Lubbock’s cultural landscape.
