CANUTILLO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — A dispute between neighbors in Canutillo escalated into a stabbing on Sunday, sending a 21-year-old man to the hospital and leading to the arrest of a 20-year-old suspect, according to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded at about 1:48 a.m. to the 600 block of Joe Angel Road after receiving reports of an assault.

When they arrived, deputies found a 21-year-old man suffering from multiple stab wounds.

Deputies rendered first aid until Fire Department personnel and Life Ambulance arrived. The victim was then taken to a local hospital for medical treatment.

Investigators determined the stabbing happened after a dispute between neighbors turned violent. Deputies recovered a knife believed to have been used in the incident.

Deputies obtained an arrest warrant for 20-year-old Adam Fierro, who was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon causing serious bodily injury.

Fierro was taken into custody and booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility, where his bond was set at $75,000.

“Arguments and disagreements should never escalate into violence,” Sheriff Oscar Ugarte said. “We encourage our community to walk away from these situations and contact law enforcement before someone is seriously injured. Our deputies will continue to investigate violent crimes thoroughly and hold those responsible accountable.”
