BURLESON COUNTY, Texas (KBTX) – Two people are dead, and five others were injured after a two-vehicle crash Sunday at the intersection of State Highway 36 and FM 60 in Burleson County, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS).
Sgt. Justin Ruiz said the crash happened around 2:15 p.m. A 2014 Kia Optima traveling on FM 60 was attempting to make a left turn when it failed to yield the right of way and was struck by a northbound 2020 Ford F-250 on SH 36, Ruiz said.
The driver of the Kia, Clarissa Nunez, 43, of Corpus Christi, and a passenger, Diamantina Martinez, 68, also of Corpus Christi, were pronounced dead at the scene, Ruiz said.
Two other passengers in the Kia, an eight-year-old girl and a five-year-old boy were taken to McLane Children’s Hospital in Temple with suspected serious injuries, according to DPS.
Ruiz said the driver of the Ford and two passengers in the truck were taken to St. Joseph Health in Bryan with minor injuries.
DPS continues to investigate the crash.
